Lecture
Mr Fauzi explained to us about our Project 2, which includes double exposure exercises and also MyTIGER competition poster design.
Double Exposure
Double exposure photography refers to merging multiple images.
Ways to create double exposure effect:
1. Using the Tilt-Shift Effect [Filter > Blur Gallery > Tilt-Shift]
Photoshop has a great tilt-shift tool that will transform your photos into soft works of art.
If you want to be extra creative, blur one of your photos instead of the entire image. Or blur everything except for one important detail.
2. Create fake reflection
There are many ways you can create reflections. One of them is creating a double-exposure with the help of a separate window photo.
3. Experiment with simple portraits and details textured
Combining something plain with something complicated will give you a balanced result. It will also save a lot of simple photos that you might discard.
4. Convert your results to Black & White
5. Work with silhouette
Try silhouettes of yourself, other people, or random objects. Anything else that catches your eye can create unique composite images.
6. Pick two random photo
Try and forget about any other double-exposure ideas. Shoot interesting textures, shapes and forms instead.
7. Make simple objects look fascinating
Take photos of everyday objects you usually take for granted. Try to make them look like something else. This technique will enhance your imagination.
Outlines of any kind are fantastic to work with for double-exposure photography. Shadows are as effective as silhouettes in this genre. They’re fascinating to work with.
2. Go to the Blending Modes option
3. Select “Screen”
4. As a result, all of the pixels on the fire will be selected as Screen blending mode.
Poster Design
Principles of Design:
1. Emphasis
2. Balance and Alignment
3. Contrast - creates space and difference between elements in your design
4. Repetition - repetition unifies and strengthens a design
5. Proportion - the visual size and weight of elements in a composition and how they relate to each other
6. Movement - creates the story or the narrative of your work
7. White Space - giving a composition more room to breathe
Tutorial + Practical
Recoulouring Exercise
In tutorial and practical section, we were required to complete Recolouring Exercises. We need to recolour the black and white photo following the slides provided in tutorial. This exercise will help us to become familiar with brush tool in Adobe Photoshop. I completed this exercise in Digital Photography and Imaging - Project 1.
Recolouring Exercise (Tutorial - Advanced ver.)
Double Exposure Exercise
In double exposure exercise, we need to follow the tutorials (video and slides) posted to edit the images in Adobe Photoshop using the images provided. After completed the exercise using the provided images, we need to do one more double exposure exercise using our own images. I completed this exercise in Digital Photography and Imaging - Project 2.
To familiarise myself from using Adobe Photoshop to create double exposure effects, I did one more image as an extra exercise using this effect.
